update

It has been a few days since I posted anything. There's really not much to say that's interesting I'm afraid. Oh, except the fact that we were on television again last night, and I just got off the phone with another news source. Ha! We feel funny about all this, but then again, the tv stations call and become kind of disappointed if you don't talk with them or if you want to do it later, etc... We do feel like it's a gift we've been given and that we would like to share it in any way we can, hence the TV spots. Plus Grace is getting great exposure. Ha!

Our itinerary is still pretty sketchy, but we did receive an e-mail telling us where we'll be staying. We'll have the train ride Saturday and the Sunday event at the Lincoln Memorial, which looks like it will be great fun- Bono and Bruce Springsteen, will i. am, Denzel Washington, Shakira, Beyonce, Renee Fleming, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor and many more will be there. I am pleased with the choice of the gay Episcopal priest to say a prayer at that event, too. Monday we'll participate somehow in the National Day of Service, but we still don't know any more about that. That night Grace and Alicia will attend the Children's Concert which will be broadcast live on the Disney Channel. And you all know about Tuesday. We have standing tickets, but we still don't know where we will be standing. It will all work out. We just have to remember that staying warm is more important than looking good, but that's hard. I have a feeling we will be four cold chicks, and Jim will be toasty warm in his sensible man's shoes and wardrobe.

Speaking of cold, Hannah went back to school Sunday to start a new semester, only to leave again after 4 days. She has become such an independent traveler. I'm really proud of the way, at 18, she is able to handle herself in airports and make her way through the city to and from school. She will take a taxi to O'Hare Friday morning b/c her flight is early, and it will be even colder there than here. I think 6 degrees is the forecast for KC that morning, brrr.

I've got lots of requests to bring things back, have things signed, etc. Please know that I have never been one to ask for autographs. Even when I worked at the Alameda Plaza and checked in plenty of celebs. I never felt comfortable doing it. Will try my best, though.

Oh, and I told these folks I'd put in a plug for them. First off, I am going to wear a beautiful Badgley Mischka gown to the Neighborhood Ball, from a company called DressQuest.com. It's owned by Ellie Callison, and she has hundreds of great dresses. I couldn't find anything I loved in the stores, and I got tired of looking, so my friend, Lisa put me in touch with Ellie. And Romanelli Optix gave me a special inaugural deal on new glasses. Very nice staff and great selection. Jennifer Blanck is sending some neat Obama earrings with me that her aunt made. It will be fun to wear them to one of the events, I'm sure. Thanks to all for the tailor tips, too.

People have loaned us luggage and have offered to loan us all kinds of things. This is all greatly appreciated. We're good to go now. I'll put a link to the Fox 4 piece at the bottom of the page. There's a little video box inset which takes you to the TV piece.
