Hannah and Grace on the steps of the Supreme Court

Wow. What an incredible few days we've had. Yesterday was the Lincoln Memorial "We Are One" concert. This was the most incredible afternoon. Between artists like Mary J Blige, Stevie Wonder, Usher, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, and Garth Brooks we heard moving speeches from Tom Hanks, Samuel Jackson, Jack Black, Jamie Foxx, and so so many more. I forgot U2! Basically, everyone I would ever want to see but be unable to afford. There was an awkward moment with a bald eagle, but Beyonce saved the ending with a beautiful national anthem. If you haven't seen it, here's a youtube link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc7HbjXHgS8

Today we attempted to do service at a friend's church near the Capitol. We heard we would be giving "hospitality" to people in a march. Before we left the train station, our friend called back and mentioned that the march might be a Right to Life event... Turns out, the march is Thursday. So we avoided that. We spent the rest of the day walking around the Capitol, the Supreme Court building, and the Library of Congress. After I was about to fall asleep, we made it home on a very crowded train. Mom, Lindsay, and Grace just got back from the children's concert. I'll let them fill everyone in later!

Tomorrow is going to be one of the most important days in our lives and we cannot wait. There are people camping out on the mall tonight for spots. It's so cold and they don't even have blankets! We are so lucky to have such fantastic seats. Being a part of this event has truly been mind-blowing. Ahhhh. We have to be on a bus at 6 tomorrow...

  1. You were on The Daily Show (again) tonight. Jon Stewart showed you all boarding the train with the Obamas in Philly. He was really wound up tonight (last show of the Bush administration), but you all performed your parts really well. Oh, file footage? Well, you looked great (again).
